One of the biggest deciding factors in many wedding planning decisions is the wedding budget. Couples need to consider their budget before they begin to plan the wedding or the cost can easily rise higher than expected.

How Does a Couple Begin Budgeting for Their Wedding?
First the couple should figure out who is paying for the wedding. The couple should sit down with each set of parents and discuss the budget. They need to find out if their parents are willing contribute to the fund or what parts of the wedding day the parents are wiling to pay for. Sometimes parents want to pay for something in particular such as the wedding cake, the wedding dress, or the invitations instead of giving a lump sum of money.

Types of Budgets
There are two different types of wedding budgets, a traditional budget and a nontraditional budget. Depending on which budget you plan to use, is based on how much you can spend and/or if there will be other sources helping with the financial part of the wedding. Have all the financial help and warnings ready when making the budget.

1.) The traditional budget is one that many have used through out the years. A traditional wedding “was” the most common wedding budget type, because that’s how society was (not as much now as it was then). There are still quite a bit of people who still follow this budget type though because keeping a tradition alive is very important.

The first step to creating a budget is to outline your planned expenses. Outline your expenses based on price, listing the most expensive items first. When you understand the real costs, you can plan accordingly, and look for opportunities to save.

The reception will likely be your single greatest expense. When you are creating this section of your budget remember to include such items as catering, site rental and other rentals, such as tents, linens and chair covers.
